Rose gave overview of guild projects and upcoming events
Someone who quilts on a domestic machine said she tried "board basting" the sandwich together before pinning
3 stations for zipper tutorials:
1) Bobbie Pippin gave Terry Atkinson Cash and Carry Pattern overview for zipped pouches (see what to sew next).
Also demonstrated pillow with zipper and flange cover from Heather Kojan's Moda Bakeshop tutorial.
2) Rose demo - Lazy Girl bendy bags and "bendy bits". Zig zag stitched raw edges
3) Daniela demo - snap closure bag with metal ruler. Edges are also raw - serged them.
Someone suggested sewing Hong Kong bias binding to cover raw edges

Uses gigantic prints on back
One quilt had solid color backing in voile (liberty of London is voile )
Used kitchen string to hand quilt an early quilt

Calls her technique liberated piecing - not big on perfect matching
Negative space does not have to be white
Tired of tone on tone prints
Uses Quilt light watting or batting (?because it's hot in Australia?), non- scrim wool batting is thin and good for hand stitching. Test a sample sandwich before committing
Uses a thick quilt hoop for hand quilting
Stitches in ditch to stabilize project and then hand quilts
