My mom taught me to sew when I was in elementary school and I made many of my clothes, including prom dresses, in high school and college. Being able to create something unique is one of my favorite aspects of sewing. In our mass-produced society, it's very satisfying to create one-of-a-kind items. As a mom, I sewed clothing and costumes for our children when they were young. When their sports and activities took over my free time, I tabled the majority of my thread projects and returned to sewing in earnest as an empty-nester. During my first year of retirement, I completed a beginning quilting class which led to a new passion for sewing. I learned techniques on-line and as a Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild member.
