Completed: December 2025
Pattern: Basic zippered bag lesson from Sew with Your Serger course by Angela Wolf (craftsy.com) and Zipper Pouch on a Serger video
Size: 8" x 10.5"

Fabric: from stash
Notes: The zipper bag above is the first bag created on my new Bernina L890 serger. I prefer to hide construction stitches when making bags. This would look better if the serger thread color matched the lining exactly (as seen below). For accuracy and ease, I used my sewing machine zipper foot to install the zipper instead of the serger. Removed the tab with the D-ring shown in the first photo because it looked out of proportion and replaced it with a larger fabric tab. A larger D-ring couldn't be used because it bumped into the serger foot.

Repeated the pattern with machine-basted side seams and a serged 4-thread overlock stitch in a matching color (3 spools of Isacord 40 weight thread and one spool of Aurifil thread in the left needle). Isacord thread is 100% polyester primarily used for machine embroidery. It's great in a serger especially when you want a good color match.
