Quilt-As-You-Go (QAYG) Zipper Bag
Completed: June 2026
Pattern: Tendersmile Handmade DIY Zipper Pouch
Size: 12" x 8"
Fabric: Scraps from stash
Techniques: QAYG with a serger to create bag material and constructed bag with French seams
Notes: Wanted to try QAYG technique on a serger with a small project before making a standard-size quilt. Cut 2.5" strips of fabric (8 fabric scraps, 8 solid backing strips and 8 batting strips). Used QAYG serger method by Joanne Banko to make bag fabric (mini strip quilt) that was 14 or 15' wide and about 16.5" tall. Serged raw edges before cutting "mini quilt" down to about 13" (one inch wider than zipper). Used Tendersmile's instructions to construct this zippered bag using a French seam. Next time I'll match bobbin thread color with zipper tape before edge stitching.
